Discover our detailed analysis of uphill performance, range of motion, comfort, fit, transitions, downhill performance, stiffness, strengths, weaknesses and our full verdict in Ski Rando Magazine.
The Scarpa F1 RS is a lightweight ski touring boot positioned between the more touring-focused models in the F1 family and the more substantial Maestrale range. It uses the F1 platform with materials and a construction designed, according to Scarpa, to provide greater stiffness than the lightest versions. The shell uses carbon fibre-reinforced Grilamid, with a construction specifically developed for ski touring. The cuff provides generous range of motion in walk mode, while the ski/walk mechanism locks it into position for skiing. The lower shell uses the BOA Fit System, which adjusts the fit around the foot via a cable and dial. The cuff has a separate closure system, complemented by a power strap. This architecture allows Scarpa to reduce the number of traditional buckles while retaining several adjustment zones. The F1 RS is compatible with tech bindings and features a rubber sole designed for sections on foot. It remains a dedicated touring boot, clearly differentiated from the 4-Quattro family, which is much more freeride touring-oriented and GripWalk-compatible.
F1 RS and F1 RS W: men’s and women’s versions The F1 RS is also available in a women’s version, the Scarpa F1 RS W. This version follows the same overall philosophy and architecture as the F1 RS, with a configuration adapted to Scarpa’s women’s range. It therefore brings the lightweight, sporty touring positioning of the RS to a model specifically offered for women.
F1 RS, F1 XT, F1 LT and F1 GT: the different versions The Scarpa F1 family covers several approaches to ski touring. The F1 RS, also available as the women’s F1 RS W, uses a construction designed to provide a higher level of stiffness while retaining low weight and the generous mobility characteristic of the F1 platform. The F1 XT has a sportier, more minimalist positioning focused on lightweight touring, while the F1 LT also targets long tours and big vertical days. The F1 GT completes the family with a more accessible construction. Depending on the model and collection, Scarpa also offers women-specific versions within the F1 family. With the F1 RS / F1 RS W, F1 XT, F1 LT and F1 GT, Scarpa offers several lightweight ski touring boots based around the same touring philosophy, with differences in materials, construction and equipment between models.
