The Scarpa Maestrale is one of the Italian brand’s iconic boots for versatile ski touring. More substantial than the lightweight models in the F1 family, it features a construction designed for ski tourers looking for a boot capable of covering a wide range of uses, from classic touring to outings with wider skis.
A versatile ski touring construction The Maestrale features a three-buckle architecture, complemented by a power strap at the top of the cuff. The Wave Closure system distributes tension across the lower shell while keeping the number of buckles to a minimum. The Speed Lock XT ski/walk mechanism locks the cuff for skiing and releases it during walking and skinning. The shell uses Grilamid Bio, a material selected by Scarpa to keep weight down while providing the mechanical properties required for this type of use. The cuff and tongue complete the overall architecture, while the thermoformable liner allows the fit to be customised. The Maestrale is compatible with tech bindings and features a rubber sole designed for sections on foot. It remains a dedicated ski touring boot, but with a more substantial construction than the F1 XT, F1 LT, F1 RS or F1 GT.
Maestrale and Maestrale RS The family is primarily structured around two versions. The Scarpa Maestrale is the core model, with a level of stiffness and construction designed for versatile ski touring. The Maestrale RS is the stiffer, higher-end version. Scarpa uses different materials and construction elements to provide a higher stated level of stiffness while retaining the overall architecture and walk mode of the Maestrale family. Scarpa also offers the Gea and Gea RS, women’s models based on the same general philosophy. With the Maestrale, Maestrale RS, Gea and Gea RS, Scarpa therefore offers a family positioned between its lighter F1 touring boots and its more freeride touring-oriented models.
