The Scarpa Gea is a women’s ski touring boot developed for skiers looking for a versatile model for classic touring and days in the mountains. It is the women’s counterpart to the Maestrale, with a specific construction and fit, and features a more substantial architecture than Scarpa’s lighter F1 models.
A versatile women’s ski touring boot The Gea features a multi-point closure system with a power strap at the top of the cuff. The Wave Closure system secures and wraps the lower foot while retaining an architecture specifically designed for ski touring. The ski/walk mechanism releases the cuff during ascents on skins and locks it into ski mode for the descent. The shell uses materials selected by Scarpa to combine low weight with mechanical properties suited to the boot’s intended use. A thermoformable liner allows the fit to be customised, while the rubber sole is designed for sections on foot encountered on ski touring routes. Compatible with tech bindings, the Scarpa Gea differs from the brand’s heavier freeride touring boots through its dedicated touring construction. It also differs from the F1 XT, F1 LT, F1 RS and F1 GT, which are lighter and more focused on big vertical days and sporty touring.
Gea and Gea RS The Scarpa Gea is the core model in the family, positioned for versatile ski touring. The Gea RS is the stiffer, higher-end version. It follows the same overall philosophy as the Gea but uses different materials and construction to provide the higher level of stiffness stated by Scarpa. The Gea and Gea RS therefore form the women’s side of the Maestrale family, alongside the Maestrale and Maestrale RS. This range occupies the versatile segment of Scarpa’s touring collection, between the lightweight F1 boots and the more freeride touring-oriented models.
