OUR REVIEW OF THE TECNICA ZERO G PEAK

MANUFACTURER’S OPINION

Tecnica is entering the ultra-light ski touring boot segment with the Zero G Peak: less than 2kg per pair in 26.5.
On the menu, a revamped T-Hike system with Double Blocking mechanism from the Zero G Tour in a lighter version; a new generation of carbon co-injected shell material and a Power Frame construction that increases stiffness and torsional resistance, while allowing the shell thickness to be reduced; a C.A.S (Custom Adaptive Shape) liner and shell, meaning a thermoformable liner and a deformable shell; a waterproof gaiter…

The Peak is offered in 3 versions:

  • The Zero G Peak Carbon with carbon fiber cuff (and therefore the stiffest). 1980g per pair in 26.5
  • The Zero G Peak with carbon co-injected material cuff. 1960g per pair in 26.5
  • The Zero G Peak W for women. 1800g per pair in 24.5.

WRAPPING SHELL CONSTRUCTION

True to the high-performance construction of Tecnica boots, which is based on layering, the construction of the new Zero G Peak shell combines the wrapping shape of a high-performance boot with the walking capability of a hiking boot.

Once the shell buckle and cable system are closed, the foot is firmly wrapped to ensure uncompromised performance on the descent.

T-HIKE DOUBLE BLOCKING MECHANISM
The T-Hike revisits the Double Blocking mechanism of the Zero G Tour in a lighter version. It offers a solid and progressive flex and excellent lateral power transmission.
The shell is connected to the cuff at two separate points and, once in hiking mode, ensures unlimited walking capability. Additionally, the internal spoiler gives the boot unique solidity.

POWER FRAME & CARBON CO-INJECTION
Thanks to a new generation of carbon co-injected shell material, the Zero G Peak is strong, powerful, and lightweight in ski mode. The Power Frame construction increases stiffness and torsional resistance, while allowing us to reduce the shell thickness.

C.A.S. LINER
Our Zero G C.A.S. thermo-formable liners are lightweight and anatomically shaped to ensure optimal comfort and good heel support. The dual-density microcellular material around the heel area is placed to ensure good heel retention. If needed, the C.A.S. material can be ground and thermo-molded for custom personalization. The new flex structure at the back of the liner makes hiking even easier. It is equipped with Recco reflector technology for added safety. Finally, the waterproof and breathable membrane keeps feet warm and dry all day long.

C.A.S. SHELL
The dimples on the shell reduce surface tension and facilitate the thermo-customization process. The design of the shell and cuff makes walking easier. Underfoot, the shallower lugs on the toe and heel improve walking and are designed to accommodate crampons during hikes and more challenging ascents.

CARBON FIBER CUFF
The Zero G Peak Carbon features a carbon fiber cuff that offers a solid and progressive flex while skiing.
The relatively soft flaps at the front ensure that the cuff wraps perfectly around the leg.

WATERPROOF GAITER
The waterproof material of the gaiter keeps feet warm and dry for all-day comfort. Thanks to its elastic upper part, it is easy to put on and take off.

FREE MOVE
Our new articulation points allow for frictionless movement, saving energy during long ski touring days. The range of motion is 75°.
Result: unlimited pivot range for more efficient climbing, even on the steepest ascents.

VIBRAM SOLES
The soles of the Zero G Peak are designed to offer optimal grip on all types of terrain.
The dual-density Vibram sole contains a more durable rubber compound at the heel and toes, while the remaining surface is more accessible and grippy.

CARBON REINFORCED SOLE
By reinforcing the sole area with carbon, we have made this boot 10% stiffer in torsion compared to traditional boots (according to tests conducted by the engineering department of the University of Padua).

POWER LOCK
The Power Lock closure strap offers ideal control and more precise power transmission. Thanks to the hook, there is no need to fully open the strap, saving you time.

SPOILER WITH FORWARD LEAN ADJUSTMENT
Whether for hiking or high-performance skiing, thanks to the spoiler, you can adjust the forward lean to configure your boot according to your preferences. The Zero G Peak is sold with a forward lean set at 13° and the spoiler adds 2° of forward lean. The ramp angle is 3.5°.
