OUR REVIEW OF THE STONE FOREST SPLIT SELECTION 2027
This season, every splitboard in the Stone lineup benefits from the addition of the Floorboard System. It gave us the perfect excuse to revisit the Forest, a board we hadn’t ridden for several years—and we’re glad we did. The new system adds a noticeable boost to the board’s overall performance, particularly in the 159 cm version we tested.
The Forest is a true freeride splitboard that also excels on backcountry tours. Considering its weight of just over 3 kg, its performance is genuinely impressive. Built from the same platform as the Natural, it also stands out with its bold, original graphics, a refreshing contrast to the understated designs that dominate today’s market.
On snow, the biaxial fiberglass construction and medium flex strike an excellent balance between forgiveness, responsiveness and low energy consumption during long days in the mountains. Easy to ride and confidence-inspiring, it still comes alive the moment you start pushing it. Whether weaving through trees, popping off pillows or playing with natural terrain features, it encourages a dynamic, playful riding style. Its traditional camber delivers precise edge control, reliable grip and just the right amount of pop. The board also retains enough torsional stiffness to remain reassuring on firm snow, where edge hold is particularly solid. Stone’s dedicated Stony climbing skin attachment system completes an already very appealing package.
The result is a highly attractive splitboard for riders who want to keep a true freeride snowboard feel without committing to an overly demanding or specialized model.
