La Sportiva Vega

OUR REVIEW OF THE LA SPORTIVA VEGA SHOE

La Sportiva released this model in the niche of the old Spectre and Synchro. For just 3kg per pair in 27.0, the La Sportiva Vega offers interesting downhill performance. The Flex is quite stiff and homogeneous. The 4 buckles provide serious and precise tightening. One might just regret a slightly limited comfort on big supports for some feet due to a thin liner. The ergonomics are nothing like the previous models. The buckles are very easy to handle and adjust. Even though there are 4, transitions remain quick and efficient, no more thin cables to handle. The cabrio construction with the one-piece tongue is also a good point for ergonomics. Putting on the shoe is very simple and the shoe is operational quickly without having to adjust a tongue to the millimeter. On the ascent, the range of motion is quite significant with a well-designed ascent/descent system. The tongue is also forgotten thanks to a fairly flexible construction. In short, a real novelty at La Sportiva that deserves to be tried on. It should also be noted that the sole is not interchangeable but can be resoled by removing the old one.

MANUFACTURER’S OPINION

La Sportiva Vega replaces the Spectre in the freeride touring segment with good innovations both in ergonomics and performance. The shell is made of lightweight and resistant Grilamid Carbon Reinforced, while the Vertebra Technology locking system in carbon becomes an integral part of the shoe and facilitates power transmission downhill with a flex announced at 125. The angle of the cuff is adjustable in 3 positions: 10, 14, and 18ยฐ. The announced shell mobility of 60ยฐ, combined with the EZ Flex articulation system of the inner liner, makes walking easier. Also gone are the impractical cable buckles! The Vega is equipped with more classic buckles that are much easier to handle. All for 2.8kg per pair in 27.5!

Vega is the evolution of the 4-buckle ski mountaineering boot dedicated to the ski mountaineer and free-rider looking for the perfect combination of power, control, resistance, and precision of a downhill boot, with the mobility, maneuverability, and lightness qualities of a new generation ski mountaineering boot. The shell is made of lightweight and resistant Grilamidยฎ Carbon Reinforced, while the patented Vertebra TechnologyTM locking system loaded with carbon becomes a structural part of the boot and facilitates power transmission downhill thanks to the exceptional “125-Flex” flexibility. The shell mobility, equal to 60ยฐ, combined with the pronounced rolling and the patented EZ FlexTM articulation system of the inner liner, makes walking and using the boot easier during technical passages on rock and slippery terrain thanks to the full Vibramยฎ sole double compound/double density. The double compatibility with Race TECH and AT bindings allows excellent versatility of use.
