Elan Touring Skis
The Slovenian brand Elan offers a solid range of touring skis, with the Ripstick models, the more touring-focused Ripstick Tour, and the Lynx series, which are their narrowest skis.
The Ripstick Tour line was created to bridge the gap between freeride downhill performance and uphill efficiency.
The new Carbon Bridge technology features a single carbon rod placed on the top of the ski, providing stability, dampening, and vibration absorption at the tip.
Weight reduction was made possible by a new pyramid-shaped ABS frame, which wraps around the ski, giving it the feel of a slim but strong instrument.
Additionally, reinforcements underfoot have been added to improve durability, making the skis compatible with new hybrid bindings.
The skis are paired with hybrid-technology climbing skins and lightweight bindings developed by ATK for Elan.
The Ripstick Tour range consists of 5 models:
– Ripstick Tour 88 (2500g – 170cm)
– Ripstick Tour 88 W (women’s) (2340g – 163cm) — €599
– Ripstick Tour 94 / 94 W (women’s) — €649
– Ripstick Tour 104
On the Ripstick side, the range continues to offer four widths: 88, 96, 106, and 116mm underfoot.
The Ripstick 96 weighs 3.3kg in 180cm, slightly heavier than the previous version, and is therefore clearly intended for touring/resort crossover use, unless you’re in top shape for ascents.
These skis also come in women’s versions in three widths: 88, 94, and 102mm.
The Lynx series are Elan’s new “narrow” touring skis, designed to complement the wider Ripstick Tour lineup (88, 94, and 104mm).
The Lynx is available in three versions, offering competitive pricing relative to their weight:
– Lynx 82: 1240g per pair in 171cm – €499
– Lynx 82 UL: 1040g in 171cm – €649
– Lynx 65 UL: a race ski with 65mm underfoot
