OUR REVIEW OF THE ELAN LYNX 82 UL
The UL version of the Lynx, which is lighter in carbon, has a drier snow feel than the basic version but, for the rest, it has nothing to envy. The grip is almost as good with the ability to cut well in spring and especially on the track. The maneuverability is excellent and the pleasure is there in spring conditions. But above all, the Ul version has a less pronounced camber than the classic version, which gives a much nicer behavior in powder and soft snow. The ski easily floats and carries quite well for only 82mm at the waist. It is easy to handle and pivots easily when needed, while the basic version tends to oversteer. In short, a ski much more in its program than the basic version. At 2200g per pair in 169cm, it’s the top for climbing while having a fairly versatile behavior for the width. It performs well in spring and does the job if the powder comes along. In the end, a very good complement to the wider Riptick Tour for skiers looking for a narrow waist without compromising too much on the rest.
MANUFACTURER’S OPINION
The Ibex are definitely bowing out. The Lynx 82 will be Elan’s new “narrow” ski that complements the wider Ripstick Tour range (88, 94, and 104mm). The Lynx 82 will be offered in two versions with an interesting price compared to the weight: Lynx 82: 1240g per pair in 171cm / €499 Lynx 82 UL: 1040g in 171cm / €649 The Lynx 65 UL intended for competition will also be available. The LYNX series is aimed at those for whom every gram counts when it comes to being fast uphill. These skis offer an exceptional feeling of lightness while being strong and stable.
