OUR TEST OF THE ATK RAIDER 10 & 12 AP BINDING

MANUFACTURER’S OPINION

A new feature has appeared on the ATK Raider AP model, which features a new rear ski brake system. This system succeeds the one introduced the previous season on the Evo bindings, thus eliminating the need for a button. The new ski stop, called AP, is available on all models that were still equipped with the button and it has a slightly lower cost compared to the EVO system. The ultimate goal is to completely eliminate the button. The main difference compared to the existing EVO system in the range is that you now have to keep the brake up while the heel piece is turned, whereas with the Evo, you could turn the heel piece and then automatically lift the brake which locked. Although the EVO offers better ease of use, the AP has a slightly lower cost.

These changes result in the introduction of the AP system on models such as the Crest AP and the Raider AP, among others. Additionally, the Crest AP and the Haute Route “Plus” will now benefit from a double climbing wedge similar to the one present on the Raider family. This feature, often requested by many skiers, offers additional comfort. The weights of the bindings remain practically the same, with only an increase of 20 to 30 grams per foot for the AP models.

Thus, these developments bring notable improvements to the bindings, offering skiers a smoother and more practical experience. Thanks to the new AP system and the introduction of the double climbing wedge on certain models, skiers will have access to more comfortable options better suited to their specific needs. These advances demonstrate the brand’s ongoing commitment to meeting the demands and expectations of skiers by offering high-quality products and constantly improving features for a better mountain experience.

It should be noted that the Raider AP remains generally identical to the Raider, except for the evolution of the ski stop made by ATK.
