OUR REVIEW OF THE SALOMON QST ECHO 106
MANUFACTURER’S OPINION
The Salomon QST Echo 106 is the new lightweight version of Salomon’s QST 106 freeride ski. With 350g less per pair, this ski has been specially designed for ski touring enthusiasts. The QST Echo 106 has a 106mm wide waist, allowing for maximum flotation in deep snow, while remaining maneuverable and performing well on groomed slopes.
The ski is equipped with a karuba and poplar core, as well as basalt fibers and cork inserts in the tip and tail, making it a lightweight, lively, and versatile backcountry ski. Additionally, the topsheet is made of 30% recycled materials and the ABS sidewalls are also recycled, making it an eco-friendly ski.
The ski’s Rocker Camber Rocker profile offers good maneuverability thanks to the ski’s tip and tail, as well as good grip on harder snow due to the camber underfoot. This also allows skiers to maintain a central position on the skis for better control. The specially selected wood core offers strength and ski control. The Sidewall construction adds strength and allows the ski to be more stable at high speed, more lively, and more durable.
In terms of weight, the QST Echo 106 is much lighter than the classic version, weighing 3620g per pair in 181cm in Echo version compared to 3960g in the classic version (181cm). This makes it the ideal choice for freeriders aiming for longer mountain circuits.
