Salomon MTN 86 Carbon

OUR REVIEW OF THE SALOMON MTN 86 CARBON

MANUFACTURER’S OPINION

With 86 mm underfoot, the MTN 86 Carbon from Salomon is designed to offer both the extreme lightness you seek for ascents, and the stability and infallible grip you need in the steepest couloirs, on the hardest snow. Thanks to its reduced environmental impact, this model allows you to enjoy your passion while preserving nature. Salomon is committed to the sustainable development of its products. The French brand has conducted life cycle analyses of their skis and realized that 50 to 60% of the carbon impact came from the materials used in the manufacturing of its products. Thus, for this new range, Salomon has worked to change its way of designing and testing its new products. Salomon is committed to using recycled products on the Top Sheet and the entire ABS of the ski (30% recycled elements), as well as the base which will be 100% composed of recycled products (resulting in a slightly colored base with small elements). A bold bet for this brand which will distribute an ecological wax block developed with Vola to offer good glide quality quickly and to compensate for a possible faster whitening of the recycled base (a recycled base would require slightly more frequent waxing). The same goes for the shoes, with soles made from 50% recycled materials and a possible resole. The Salomon MTN 86 Carbon is available in 4 sizes from 156 to 180cm and tailored skins are available as an option. The ski is manufactured in Austria.
