Dalbello Quantum Free Pro

OUR REVIEW OF THE DALBELLO QUANTUM FREE PRO BOOT

Dalbello offers a “Free” version of the Quantum boot, more focused on downhill performance. The Dalbello Quantum Free Pro, formerly known as Free 130, is equipped with two real buckles replacing the Dynema strap, as well as the QLS system (cable laces), providing a stiffer flex and better support. The liner is also thicker and of better quality. On the field, the flex differs significantly from the basic Quantum, but it is far from the announced 130. It is more in the flexibility range of a classic touring boot. However, the weight of 2500g per pair in size 27.0 is interesting given its flex, and above all, the boot is very comfortable given its weight. The liner is thick enough to absorb good support, and the range of motion uphill is excellent. The boot’s ergonomics are also excellent, even better than the classic Quantum. The buckles are easy to handle and adjust. The transition system from uphill to downhill mode is also simple and practical. It should also be noted that putting on the boot is a bit easier. In summary, it is a good boot for pure and hard touring, offering an interesting compromise between weight and performance in the Quantum range, but lacking power for freeride-touring use. The Quantum Free Pro is available in 3 versions: 130 and 110 (Quantum Free) flex, as well as 105 for the women’s version (Quantum Free W).

MANUFACTURER’S OPINION

Dalbello expands its Quantum boot range with a new “Free” version focused on freeride performance. This version uses the base of the existing Quantum but incorporates new elements to optimize performance. The Dynema strap and QLS (Quick Lacing System) are replaced by two buckles, while a power strap is added at the top of the boot. The liner has been improved for better comfort. Additionally, the transition system from uphill to downhill mode is new and easier to use. These features promise interesting performance, with a stated flex of 130 and a remarkably light weight of only 2500g per pair in size 26.5. The Quantum Free is available in three models: the Quantum Free Pro, the Quantum Free with a flex of 110, and the Quantum Free W specially designed for women.
