OUR REVIEW OF THE DYNAFIT TIGARD 130 BOOT

MANUFACTURER’S OPINION

The new Tigard ski boot from DYNAFIT combines ski touring-freeride with alpine skiing to offer a complete experience. The Tigard 130 or 110 is a high-end Alpine-Tech boot that allows downhill-oriented skiers to not only quickly reach the summit but also carve perfect lines in untouched powder, following the motto “First up – first down.” This aggressive model is the lightest in its category and holds a unique position in the market thanks to its incredible range of motion in this segment.

The Tigard 130/110 offers great freedom of movement, flexibility, and comfort. DYNAFIT has combined its expertise and various innovations from ski touring-freeride and alpine skiing in this boot. With the Tigard, the snow leopard brand offers an excellent solution for athletes who want to quickly reach the summit before enjoying an unforgettable descent in untouched powder.

The Tigard is the lightest boot in its category on the market, weighing only 1,590 g (size 26.5). DYNAFIT offers two variants (130 and 110) to better meet the individual needs of ski touring enthusiasts looking for downhill fun. The Tigard 130, thanks to its carbon fiber-reinforced Grilamid material, offers particularly high rigidity for off-piste experts and heavier individuals, with a progressive flex of 130. The boot ensures remarkable force transmission to the ski, offering exceptional performance uphill and downhill for unforgettable outings. The Tigard 110, on the other hand, is suitable for skiers seeking a slightly softer flex. The combination of Grilamid and fiberglass offers balanced rigidity and good comfort. This model is ideal for ski touring-freeride enthusiasts looking for a sporty but softer flex, thus offering a progressive and forgiving boot.

DYNAFIT places great importance on reliability and experience. Thus, the new Tigard is equipped with the patented DYNAFIT Hoji Lock system, which creates a solid and robust unit between the lower shell and the cuff. This results in exceptional stability and control on the descent. The Overlap construction, originating from the alpine skiing sector and integrated into the DYNAFIT touring boot, wraps the foot with great precision, allowing very direct transmission of movements to the skis.

With a last width of 101 mm, a Power Strap, and four buckles with a fine adjustment system, performance is guaranteed at all times. The Tigard 130 locks with a longitudinal inclination angle of 13° for the descent, offering sportiness, control, and comfort well above average on the snow.

The Tigard is also surprising on the ascent thanks to its 70-degree cuff range, offering freedom of movement and mobility superior to all other products in the segment. This feature allows for natural and energy-efficient walking, even in steeper alpine terrain. Moreover, when foot traverses on rocks or icy snow are necessary to reach the coveted slope, the Tigard is equipped with the new Gripwalk outsole. This ensures secure grip during foot passages without skis, is particularly stable and robust, and allows the boot to be used with frame, insert, or alpine bindings. The boot is also compatible with fully automatic crampons for increased safety during hiking when conditions become more challenging.

The large cuff range thanks to the Hoji Lock system in the open position, combined with the liner construction, allows for very easy donning and doffing of the boot. DYNAFIT has named this system Easy Entry. Another feature of the Tigard boot, the new thermoformable Dynafitter 15 liner pleasantly warms the feet thanks to PrimaLoft insulation. This liner ensures a precise fit around the foot and its versatility is highly appreciated during long hikes with significant elevation changes. It offers optimal comfort while providing the necessary firmness, all with a weight of only 350 g and a thickness of 15 mm.

Like all DYNAFIT models, the Tigard boot is manufactured in Montebelluna, Italy, and benefits from the brand’s Lifetime Guarantee. DYNAFIT will extend this warranty from 5 to 10 years starting in October 2023 for all its products, provided they are registered online within 12 months of the purchase date. This demonstrates DYNAFIT’s commitment to the quality and longevity of its products while reinforcing its ecological responsibility. Durability is also part of the characteristics of DYNAFIT equipment.
