OUR REVIEW OF THE BLIZZARD ZERO G 96
The new Blizzard Zero G 96, which replaces the Zero G 95, is clearly performance-oriented. Its relatively straight sidecut gives it excellent edge grip for its weight and impressive stability at high speeds, regardless of snow conditions. Whether you’re in powder or spring snow, it handles fast skiing without surprises. On the flip side, experienced skiers will be better able to unlock its full potential, as it really shines at higher speeds. In powder, and more generally in soft snow, it planes up effortlessly thanks to a well-calibrated progressive tip—just enough without going overboard. This is clearly its preferred terrain. You wouldn’t think you’re skiing a pair weighing under 2,800 g in 178 cm: you can ski fast and hard with a great sense of stability. The cherry on top? It’s quite enjoyable to handle in these conditions. In short, it offers an excellent weight-to-performance ratio, aimed more at intermediate to advanced skiers. On groomers or in spring snow, it needs high speeds to carve effectively, due to its long turning radius. It’s not the most playful ski in those situations, but its easy pivoting and strong edge hold balance things out and still deliver solid enjoyment. It’s also worth noting that it performs impressively in steep terrain. You may feel the light weight when conditions get choppy or in tracked-out snow, as it has limited dampening. But for touring use, it more than holds its own. On the uphill, it’s a great option for big missions. Its straight-ish sidecut is also an asset when skinning, though it requires more attention to edge grip on hard snow compared to the 88 mm version.
The women’s model has a dedicated construction, featuring a 10% softer flex adapted to female physiology, as part of Blizzard’s Women2Women initiative.
