ATK CREST REVIEW

The offer of the Crest model, ATK’s flagship binding, is simplified this season with a unique model without variations. This one is equipped with the “AP” ski stopper which automatically releases by turning the heel piece in descent mode. To switch to ascent mode and lock the ski stopper, you need to press it with your hand while turning the heel piece to ascent mode, unlike the EVO ski stopper which locks automatically on the first step. The tips of the ski stoppers are large enough to block the skis, compared to the first ATK models, although they remain thinner than those of the competition. The Crest also includes a play compensation mechanism, practical double risers, and an easy entry system. It is a versatile model that combines essential features while offering a good weight/functionality ratio. It is also important to highlight the efforts of the Italian brand to offer this model at an affordable price, thus breaking with its rather expensive brand image. It should also be noted that this model is equipped this season with the new anti-snow front. The gap under the pin springs is “sealed” by the base which rises high enough to prevent snow build-up. A clever idea! In short, the Crest remains a safe bet.

With a weight of about 280 grams per binding, it offers an excellent weight/performance ratio. Its adjustable DIN release range of 5 to 10 provides safety adapted to different skier levels.

Equipped with a ski brake available in several widths (86 to 102 mm), the Crest 10 ensures a perfect fit for various skis. It features three riser levels (0Β°, 36 mm, 50 mm) to facilitate ascents, and integrates advanced technologies like the Easy Entry System for easy entry, the Cam Release System for precise release, and the Elastic Response System to absorb shocks and improve stability.
