PRESENTATION OF THE SALOMON MTN SUMMIT PURE
The Salomon MTN Pure is a ski touring boot designed for a more traditional touring programme, with a significantly lighter and more uphill-oriented construction than the Shift Alpha and Shift Supra families. It is aimed at ski tourers looking for a dedicated boot for touring, long ascents on skins and routes involving significant vertical gain.
A construction dedicated to ski touring
The MTN Pure uses an architecture specifically developed for touring, with a ski/walk mechanism that releases the cuff during ascents. Its construction is designed to reduce the number of components and keep overall weight down, while retaining a closure system that allows the lower shell and cuff to be adjusted separately. This positioning clearly distinguishes it from the Shift Alpha BOA and Shift Supra BOA. These models retain an architecture much closer to an alpine ski boot and are primarily aimed at freeride touring, whereas the MTN Pure sits at the heart of Salomon’s touring range.
A range designed for ski touring
The MTN Pure family is available in several versions, with differences in stiffness, liner and certain construction elements to suit different types of ski tourers. The models share the same overall philosophy: providing a genuine ski touring boot, with generous range of motion, low weight and a construction dedicated to use with pin bindings.
Within Salomon’s 2026/2027 range, the MTN Pure therefore covers the dedicated ski touring segment, while the Shift Alpha BOA, with its 98 mm last, and the Shift Supra BOA, with its 102 mm last, are positioned towards freeride touring with a more alpine-inspired construction.
