PRESENTATION OF THE SALOMON MTN SUMMIT PRO
The Salomon MTN Summit Pro is a lightweight ski touring boot developed for touring and routes involving significant vertical gain. It sits firmly within the touring side of Salomon’s range, with a much more minimalist construction than the freeride touring-oriented Shift Alpha and Shift Supra.
A lightweight boot designed for touring
The MTN Summit Pro is specifically designed for ski touring, with a ski/walk mechanism that releases the cuff during ascents. Its architecture uses a reduced number of closure components and a lightweight shell, with the manufacturer’s design focused on mobility when walking and efficiency during long climbs on skins. The closure system combines dedicated foot retention with a separate cuff closure, keeping the overall construction streamlined and simplifying transitions between walk and ski modes. The sole and tech inserts are designed for use with pin bindings.
MTN Summit Pro: the high-end Summit model
The MTN Summit Pro represents the higher-end version of the Summit family. It uses specific materials and a dedicated liner to provide the most advanced construction in the range, with a positioning aimed at regular ski tourers and routes where low weight and mobility are important considerations.
MTN Summit Pro and MTN Summit: the different versions
The MTN Summit Pro is the premium version, with construction and equipment designed to reduce weight while retaining the touring-focused philosophy of the family. The MTN Summit follows the same general concept in a more accessible configuration. It retains an architecture dedicated to ski touring and generous mobility for walking, while differing notably in its materials and some components. The Salomon MTN Summit family therefore occupies a very different position from the Shift Alpha BOA and Shift Supra BOA: the Summit models are dedicated ski touring boots focused on light weight and mobility, while the Shift models use a more alpine-inspired construction primarily intended for freeride touring.
