OUR REVIEW OF THE SALOMON MTN SUMMIT S/LAB
MANUFACTURER’S OPINION
The Salomon MTN SUMMIT S/LAB touring ski boot provides the perfect balance between the lightweight needed to aid ascents and the performance needed for descents. The lightweight shell, 70 mm wide Dual Powerstrap, and thin liner ensure both a close fit to the calf and solid support for the descent.
The 2.0 version of the MTN range features a new lightweight boot, the MTN Summit, which comes in 5 models.
MTN Summit S/Lab: this is the most high-performance version with an Ultramid collar and carbon shaft, plus an additional strap on the top of the boot. 2100g per pair in 26.0.
MTN Summit Pro: Ultramid collar and fiberglass shaft with a softer flex. 2200g per pair in 26.0. Also available in a women’s version.
MTN Summit Pure: PU collar and fiberglass shaft, also softer. 2400g per pair in 26.0. Also available in a women’s version.
All these models feature a 75° range of motion, a BOA system on the front of the boot, and an integrated waterproof gaiter.
No new features, however, on the more descent-oriented segment: the S/Lab MTN is continued.
Climbing Efficiency
Climbing becomes easy with the MTN Summit which weighs only 1 kg with a 75° range of motion that offers a good foot roll.
Downhill Performance
The carbon structure provides a solid connection between the shell and the collar, with the stiff and uniform flex necessary to be comfortable in all conditions.
Precision
The use of the adjustable BOA® and an ideally placed instep strap creates the Touring Belt, a Salomon innovation that provides personalized comfort and solid support.
