Salomon Ski Touring Bindings
Discover the Salomon ski touring bindings range, designed for every type of backcountry skier, from classic ski touring enthusiasts to committed freeriders. For the 2026/2027 season, Salomon carries over its lineup with no major technical changes. The only addition is the new Shift² 16 MN, which joins the existing Shift² 10 MN and Shift² 13 MN to expand the hybrid binding family.
Salomon Shift²
The Shift² remains one of the benchmark hybrid ski touring bindings on the market. Its unique design combines the climbing efficiency of a Low Tech pin binding with the downhill performance and security of a true alpine binding. Introduced last season, the second generation features several refinements, including a micro-adjustable aluminium AFD with the Power Block system, delivering greater lateral stiffness and improved power transfer.
The toe wings and locking lever have also been reinforced to improve impact resistance and durability, while the heel unit has been strengthened for greater long-term reliability. Despite these upgrades, the overall weight remains virtually unchanged.
The range now consists of the Shift² 10 MN, Shift² 13 MN, and the new Shift² 16 MN, developed for powerful skiers and demanding freeride applications thanks to its higher release range. The Shift² remains one of the few bindings capable of delivering genuine alpine binding performance on the descent while maintaining the uphill efficiency of a pin binding.
Salomon MTN
The MTN range continues to target ski tourers who prioritize lightweight equipment and climbing efficiency. The MTN Summit (sold as the Backland Summit by Atomic) retains the improvements introduced with the latest generation, including heel gap adjustment, adjustable lateral release values, upgraded materials and several versions to suit different skiing styles and ability levels.
Available with or without ski brakes depending on the model, the MTN Summit bindings offer an excellent balance of weight, reliability and performance, with weights ranging from 590 g to 790 g per pair.
Overall, the Salomon 2026/2027 ski touring binding range focuses on continuity. The MTN Summit lineup remains unchanged, while the Shift² family expands with the addition of the new Shift² 16 MN, providing an option for the most demanding skiers without altering the qualities that have made the Shift one of the world’s leading hybrid ski touring bindings.
