K2 Ski Touring Boots
For 2026/2027, K2’s ski touring boot range is primarily focused on the Mindbender family. Unlike brands offering very lightweight models dedicated to big vertical days, K2 remains committed to a freeride touring approach, with boots designed primarily around downhill performance while retaining a walk mode for approaches and ski touring.
K2 Mindbender: freeride touring first
The Mindbender range uses a four-buckle construction closely related to an alpine ski boot, combined with the Powerlock Spyne ski/walk system. The stated 50° range of motion provides mobility for the ascent despite a construction clearly focused on the descent. The range is available with several flex ratings, including the Mindbender 140 BOA, 130 BOA, 120 BOA and 110 BOA. The higher-end models combine a BOA closure system on the lower shell with traditional buckles on the cuff, designed to provide precise foot wrapping while retaining the support required for more aggressive skiing. K2 also offers women’s versions of the Mindbender based around the same philosophy: a genuine freeride touring boot for skiers who prioritise power and precision on the descent rather than minimum weight on the ascent.
With the Mindbender, K2 therefore occupies a clearly defined position in the ski touring market: rather than lightweight boots dedicated to pure touring, the range focuses on freeride, off-piste skiing and ski tours where downhill performance remains the priority.
