A versatile and lightweight ski touring boot The Atomic Backland Pro remains in the range for the 2026/2027 season and is the more accessible and versatile option in the narrow-fit Backland family. With a stated weight of 1,166 g per boot in size 26/26.5, it offers a strong weight-to-feature ratio for ski tourers looking for a lightweight ski touring boot for both day tours and long ascents.
Prolite construction at 1,166 g Unlike the Backland Carbon and Carbon UL, the Backland Pro features a carbon-loaded PU shell combined with a PU cuff. It uses Prolite construction, Memory Fit technology, Investment Cast Tech Inserts and the Stretch Guard system.
74° range of motion for long ascents On the ascent, the Backland Pro retains one of the key features of the Backland range with a generous 74° range of motion. The Frictionless Pivot is combined with the Free/Lock 4.0 ski/walk mechanism to allow the cuff to move freely while climbing. Forward lean can be adjusted to 13°, 15° or 17°, with 15° as the standard setting.
The closure system uses Cross Lace 2.0, complemented by 7000-series aluminium touring buckles and a 30 mm Velcro Power Strap. The 3D Gold Tour liner features a breathable construction, Dura Shield reinforcements and specific shaping around the ankle and heel.
A precise 98 mm fit The Backland Pro uses the same 98 mm Touring Last as the Backland Carbon models, corresponding to a Narrow / Low Volume fit. It is therefore primarily aimed at skiers with narrower feet or those looking for a close, precise fit, with further shell customisation possible through Memory Fit. It is available in sizes 24/24.5 to 30/30.5.
With a stated weight of 1,166 g per boot, 74° range of motion and a relatively streamlined construction, the Atomic Backland Pro remains, on paper, an interesting option for classic ski touring, with a greater focus on versatility and its weight-to-feature ratio than on the minimum-weight approach of the Carbon versions.
