The Atomic Hawx Ultra XTD BOA is Atomic’s narrow-fit ski touring and freerando boot range. It combines an architecture derived from the Hawx alpine boot family with a walk mode and tech inserts, creating a hybrid platform for ski touring, freeride, backcountry skiing and resort use. The Hawx Ultra XTD BOA retains the 98 mm narrow fit characteristic of the Hawx Ultra family. Its shell features Atomic’s Prolite construction, using less material while reinforcing key areas of the boot. Memory Fit technology also allows the shell and other components to be heat moulded to adapt the fit. For 2026/2027, lower-shell closure is based exclusively on the BOA Fit System. The dial tensions a cable around the forefoot, while upper buckles and a power strap secure the cuff. This configuration differentiates the current Hawx Ultra XTD BOA generation from earlier versions using conventional lower-shell buckles. For ski touring, Atomic’s Free/Lock 4.5 mechanism releases the cuff during the ascent and locks it for skiing. The Hawx Ultra XTD BOA therefore retains a construction much closer to an alpine ski boot than Atomic’s Backland range, which is more specifically focused on lightweight ski touring.
Hawx Ultra XTD BOA: four variants For 2026/2027, the Atomic Hawx Ultra XTD BOA range includes four models: the Hawx Ultra XTD 130 BOA, Hawx Ultra XTD 120 BOA, Hawx Ultra XTD 115 W BOA and Hawx Ultra XTD 105 W BOA. All four share the same freerando concept, with a narrow fit, BOA Fit System on the lower shell and a ski/walk mechanism. The 130 BOA and 120 BOA are the two men’s versions, offering different stated flex ratings. The 115 W BOA and 105 W BOA are the two women’s variants, again differentiated primarily by their stated flex and equipment level.
