Marker Cruise

MANUFACTURER’S OPINION

The new MARKER Cruise ski touring binding has been designed for people who want to get into the fascinating world of ski touring. It is equipped with well-thought-out features to make every outing as comfortable and easy as possible.

And hey! IT’S ECO-FRIENDLY because we used recycled and bio-based plastic whenever possible and reasonable.

WHAT MAKES THE CRUISE SPECIAL?

The Cruise is the first binding on the market to be made from sustainable materials, making MARKER an industry pioneer in sustainability. The Cruise is the ideal option for multi-sport athletes with varied interests. This pin binding stands out for its high-quality features, produced sustainably, and also stands out for its incredibly easy handling. Weighing only 475 g, the Cruise is also one of the lightest comfort-oriented bindings on the market.

SUSTAINABLE MATERIALS

During its production, up to 85% of the plastics are bio-based or recycled. The use of these composites can significantly reduce CO2 emissions, which is not the case with conventional plastics from fossil sources: this results in a reduction of CO2 emissions by about 63%.

Comparison of CO2 emissions between fossil plastic and the Cruise’s sustainable plastic production.
Recycled plastics are used where possible. They offer the best ecological balance and are found in less stressed components, such as the brake and heel housing. Bio-based plastics are used in components subjected to maximum mechanical load. They have the same mechanical properties as conventional plastics, have a lower CO2 footprint, and do not use fossil resources such as oil or natural gas. Bio-based plastics are used, for example, for the climbing aid and the front piece.

DESIGNED FOR EASY TOURING

In terms of features, the new Cruise binding stands out for its extremely ergonomic climbing aid. It can be operated very easily with ski poles, even in very cold weather, and can be set to three different angles (0°, 8°, and 12°) for optimal climbing efficiency.

Easy to adjust
Designed from scratch by MARKER, a true ski binding specialist, the horizontal and vertical release values of the heel can be adjusted independently of each other. This is easily done using a screwdriver, setting and displaying the appropriate release value (IZ value) on two separate visual indicator scales. This value specifies when the binding should release in case of overload. This means that the Cruise also offers an increased safety standard.

EASY DESCENT SWITCH

Switching from walk mode (climb mode) to ski mode (descent mode) and vice versa is easy with the Cruise as it only requires turning the heel part 180°. Here too, MARKER has truly prioritized ergonomic design and ease of use: switching from walk mode to ski mode does not require much force and the brake unlocks automatically when you turn the heel.

EASY STEP-IN

Compared to the MARKER Alpinist binding, the effort required to step the heel into the new Cruise has been reduced by up to 30%. The front piece used is the ISI Toe, launched last year. ISI stands for “Intuitive Step In”. A special rubber stop helps to position the shoe more effectively and intuitively when stepping in. In combination with the change in geometry and the wider stepping platform, pressure can build up more easily, so that the technical inserts and pins can be perfectly aligned and significantly less force is needed to engage them before ascent or descent.
