ARVA Reactor Flex 32 PRO airbag test

Arva is releasing its Reactor airbag backpack in a flex version this season, which means it is now possible to zip different backpack volumes onto a base. An interesting concept given the price of airbag backpacks… Arva offers two volumes: 24 and 32L.

We primarily tested the 32L version, which can do more, can do less! We won’t go over the airbag system itself, which we have already tested previously (see Arva Reactor 40 test) but rather on the ergonomics and details of this new backpack. The main pocket, and therefore the bulk of the volume, is located between the base and the zipped backpack. It is the zip that connects these two elements that allows access. In the field, it works very well and this trick even allows very easy access to items since the zip is almost 360°. Only the lower part is blocked by a scratch to prevent the base from detaching. In this main pocket, the airbag system is rather discreet and the overall announced 32L seems to be respected. On the rest of the backpack, Arva has made a particular effort on accessories, pockets, and finish. The volume of the dedicated safety pocket is very generous and it is possible to add a few more items. There is also a small vertical pocket on the front of the backpack and finally a pocket on the top of the backpack. Not to mention also two small pockets on the belt. Quite a few compartments, which is a very good thing for an airbag backpack of this weight. Cherry on the cake, the comfort is top-notch with an adjustable back according to your size. Even fully loaded, the backpack remains comfortable and very stable. Nothing to say on this point. In terms of accessories, the Reactor Flex is not left out with 2 simple and practical ice axe holders, a diagonal ski holder. We can just regret the absence of a helmet holder but which is easily addable thanks to the numerous attachments on the front of the backpack. In the end, a well-developed product with a very good weight/price/features ratio. Indeed, with a total weight of 2600g on our scale, the Reactor Flex 32 Pro is rather well placed compared to the competition (2500g for the Avabag 40L for example, one of the lightest backpacks in this volume). The fact of being able to choose your volume according to the outing is really a plus. When will there be a 40L volume for raids?
