PRESENTATION OF THE OGSO SWISS 85
A lightweight mountaineering ski designed for long tours
The Swiss 85 is part of OGSO’s Ultra Tour Series, a collection developed for practitioners who prioritize uphill efficiency without sacrificing downhill control. Its program clearly targets long alpine outings, raids, and mountaineering races where weight becomes a determining factor.
According to OGSO, the Swiss uses a NEOTERIC camber combined with a long, raised tip to maintain a centered and efficient position, both in long climbs and in variable snow conditions encountered in high mountains.
Carbon construction and paulownia core
The Swiss 85 is based on a paulownia core combined with a full carbon jacket. This construction aims to maximize the weight-to-stiffness ratio while maintaining enough stability when conditions become more demanding.
With its 85 mm underfoot, the Swiss positions itself in the segment of lightweight mountain-oriented touring skis. This format allows for good uphill performance while offering more comfort and float than a purely competition or ski-mountaineering ski.
OGSO presents it as a model intended for skiers seeking a responsive, energy-efficient ski capable of remaining precise in varied terrains ranging from glaciers to alpine couloirs.
Program
The Swiss 85 is the “long tour” model of the Ultra Tour range. Its DNA favors large crossings, distant summits, and routes where positive elevation gain accumulates. The carbon construction and paulownia core help reduce weight while the various stabilizers aim to maintain control when the snow becomes more technical or irregular.
Manufactured in the Czech Republic in Kästle CZ factories, like the rest of the Ultra Tour range, the Swiss 85 represents OGSO’s interpretation of the modern lightweight touring ski: efficient uphill, precise on edges, and designed for long days in the mountains.
