OUR REVIEW OF THE ROSSIGNOL ESCAPER 88 NANO
Rossignol renewed its all-around touring ski last season with a new construction, a new shape, and 1mm more at the waist. In short, a completely new ski and not a fake novelty. The weight is still very contained. At 2650g in 176cm on our scale, it is very well placed for the category! But as always, you have to look at the descent, and we were pleasantly surprised. Rossignol has stepped up its game in terms of performance. The old version was rather easy and accessible with limited performance when it got rough or for big skiers. Here, we clearly have a ski you can push into and that allows you to send more. The snow feel is also one of the best in the category. In powder, the floatation is excellent with its very progressive tip that compensates for a rather pronounced camber. Stability is there even at high speed while keeping fun and liveliness. In spring conditions, it’s the same story, the ski has a lot under the hood with good grip and a nice behavior in carved turns. On the downside, we lose the ultra-accessible side of the old version, especially in crusty snow, but the ski remains quite unphysical when you have to descend from a tiring tour.
