OUR REVIEW OF THE NORDICA UNLIMITED LT 130 BOOT
MANUFACTURER’S OPINION
LESS WEIGHT, MORE FUN.
The Nordica Unlimited LT 130 ski touring boot focuses on the perfect combination of lightness and performance, without any compromise. The technicians worked closely with the concerned pilots and relied on market studies to find the most effective and enjoyable solutions.
With this in mind, the boot uses a new variant of Grilamid, a polyurethane known for its lightness and already used in the eyewear industry. This material is obtained from a renewable source, castor oil, thus demonstrating the brand’s commitment to adopting a more environmentally friendly approach. The Unlimited family boots are designed for adventure, with a sleek and precise silhouette and a 99 mm fit for exceptional precision and pleasure.
TRI-FORCE CUFF.
One of the major innovations of the new Unlimited boots lies in the entirely new cuff, developed using a manufacturing method already used by Nordica. The expertise and experience acquired over the years have made it possible to create a functional cuff suitable for all activities. By using plastic with three levels of rigidity, the cuff ensures optimal connection with the leg, offering the right level of functionality and comfort for each part. The external shells feature different shades of color before adopting the classic black that has always been the trademark.
HIKE MECHANISM.
The mechanism connecting the shell to the cuff has been specially designed to offer stability and security during skiing, as well as a wide angular opening to facilitate joint mobility during ascents. With a maximum range of motion of 65°, skiers benefit from optimal freedom of movement, even when climbing demanding slopes. Additionally, by rotating the mechanism block 180°, the cuff inclination can be adjusted according to needs and context: 13° for a more advanced and performance-oriented descent position, 11° for a natural walking feel.
HOOKS.
The closure systems have also been redesigned to reduce weight and fatigue during ascents. The traditional ratchet lever of the shell has been replaced by a wire solution consisting of a cable and an anchor point, combined with the second hook to wrap the foot. Additionally, an intuitive click system allows the lever to fold onto itself and lock during ascents. The other three levers, made with a special magnesium alloy, offer lightness and comfort.
SOLES.
Over the years, the hiking market has become increasingly sensitive to soles as an essential feature. The Unlimited boots mark the beginning of an innovative sole capable of meeting all requirements. In a concern for sustainability, the sole is screwed rather than glued, and can be replaced once worn. Another revolutionary feature is the total compatibility with all track bindings, thus eliminating any concerns about associations with ISO-compliant bindings. The Michelin Gripwalk and Gripwalk soles are renowned for their maximum grip and stability in all conditions.
THE LINER.
The strength of the Unlimited boots also lies in their interior construction. The 3D Light liner, present in the lightest models, weighs only 280 grams and is the ideal solution for climbing the longest and most difficult slopes. The other models are equipped with the HP 3D Cork liner with laces, with a high-quality cork insert, perfect for those seeking maximum performance in descent. The use of the Primaloft membrane, a thermal insulator capable of keeping feet warm and dry, is a common feature of both types of liners. Finally, all models in the Unlimited range do not contain PVC, a decision made by the brand to reduce its environmental impact.
