OUR REVIEW OF THE MOONLIGHT CRUISER CARBON SUPERLIGHT

1300g per ski for 120mm at the waist and 186cm long! To achieve this mind-blowing weight, Moonlight has used the technologies that made its narrower models successful but with a new core. On the ascent, the Moonlight Cruiser is forgotten as long as the snow is deep or soft. The width and rocker are even an advantage for making tracks in deep powder. However, as soon as the snow is more packed, you quickly reach the limits, and on hard snow, it’s better to put the skis on the backpack! On the descent, the flotation is necessarily good with this width, but the lift-off is also there with a very progressive rocker characteristic of Moonlight skis. The stability is rather good, and the ski doesn’t move despite its ultra-lightweight. You can still feel that you don’t have a big bulldozer under your feet, and you need to slow down a bit in rough snow. In the end, good behavior for the program: skiing in big conditions on a tour. Apart from the weight, the biggest surprise comes from the maneuverability. The ski turns with disconcerting ease as if you had a much narrower ski. You don’t find the “clumsy” side that is often present on skis this wide. The ski is playful and turns on a dime, even on the piste. The weight certainly contributes a lot, but the shape also does the job well. We can also note a rather decent grip on hard snow for the width, even if it’s really not the program. A ski that remains very exclusive but performs perfectly when reserved for big conditions. Good news, Moonlight is not increasing prices yet in 2022/23.
